Day 1...Washington D.C.

Friday, We left at 5:30 a.m. for the trip to Washington, D.C. It took us 6 1/2 hrs. to get there. The traffic was good. We travelled 450 miles on a tank of gas. (Gas was 3.87 a gallon in Virginia, it costs us $100) Zack & Cassie slept most of the trip. Kobe didn't mind the trip too much... Cassie, Scott & Zack at the top of the Washington Monument.

The Washington Monument was 555 feet tall.

We were lucky enough to see the President land on the White House Lawn.

We visited the Space Station at the Smithsonian Museum of Space & Science.

The White House at night...(there were armed gunman on the top of the roof...)

We had a good first day. We were tired from all the walking by the time we got back to the hotel, but it was worth it. We took the metro during the day and then drove into Washington at night to see everything lit up.
