Happy Anniversary...18 years!!

Happy Anniversary to my darling husband. Thanks for putting up with me for 18 years...:)

I am very thankful for my husband and for the two children that we have. We have come a long way from where we were when we moved here from Massachusetts 18 years ago.

Don't get me wrong there are occasions when I would like to put a pillow over his head, especially when he snores real loud...but overall, he is a great guy. He loves to travel with me and I can tell him anything and he doesn't judge me. He has been a good husband and provider. He has a serious side and a very funny side.

We went to Outback for dinner. We didn't even have to wait. Usually any given night there is a long line to get a table but on a rainy Monday night, we got right in.

I close this post with a funny video of Scott doing the hula hoop on the wii. We have been having lots of laughs the past few days with the wii fit. My legs are so sore it's hard to walk....lol....

God Bless America & Tanner Spry

Today we went to Lake Bowen to our neighbor's (Jim & Sabrina ) lake house to welcome home their son, Tanner. He has been serving in the Army in Iraq. He is now stationed in Savannah, Georgia. We met his new wife.

They had close to 70 people there. They cooked a pig all night last night and we ate pulled pork today. It was very good. I'm glad I didn't see this until we were leaving though...lol...
Jim and a few of his friends get together and play in a band, so they played for us today. They were awesome! They need to play together for money, that's how good they were. I think a lot of them are friends from Milliken.

Jim did a great job on the drums....

The weather was perfect today out there. It was breezy so it didn't get too hot. They have a nice lot on the point of the lake.

Their other son, Jeff, and his friends out on the boat. Jeff also served in Iraq with the Marines a few years ago.

Wii Fit!!

Ok, I decided that I am tired of being overweight and have tried everything. My sister said that her housekeeper's friend bought wii fit and lost 4o lbs. So after a couple of weeks, I finally tracked down a game today.

We got the wii when it came out almost 2 years ago and we all have loved it. It is a fun family game. So I thought, if I can play games and also lose weight, I am up for that!!

I got it home, set it up and gave it a whirl. It can't be too hard right?, it's a kids game....WRONG...it is a workout for sure. It has aerobics, yoga, balance games & strengthening. Now, it was funny enough to see me doing the hula hoop but picture my husband doing it,it was hilarious....

There are skiing games, yoga exercises, running, pushups, all kinds of exercises. The only thing that was a little depressing was it weighs you and tells you your BMI...that's a reality check. Also my little character was fat....

Well, I did do it for 30 mins and now I am tired. I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow lol...I'll see if I can lose any weight....

These are some pictures of things you can do. It's fun so far.

Ok Doug, you need to get yours out of the box and do it.....

Goodbye Girl Scouts

With Sunday being so busy, I forgot to post this event. Cassie had her final Girl Scout Meeting. She has been in Girl Scouts since she was a brownie in the first grade. Her troop this year has come to an end. All the girls are moving on to other activites. Her troop leader Beth Ann Hartford, on the left, has been an amazing leader. She has been with the girls since the beginning. I remember the first sleep over at Camp Mary Elizabeth and Cassie was a little reluctant to stay overnight and Beth Ann took her in and mothered her like she was her own. This is her troop. There are 2 girls missing. We went to Olive Garden for our final fun meeting. The other leaders Mrs. Baker & Mrs. Duffy have been a great help too. I had fun being the cookie mom for the past 3 years.

Excited....BUT...Nervous

Today was the first day of school for Zack & Cassie. They both had a new school to go to. They both were excited but I think they were both a little nervous about a new school and new students.

Zack & I walked Cassie into the Middle School this morning to make sure she knew where she was going.

Zack had his map of the Freshman campus and he was confident that he knew where he was going.

They both had a great first day. You know how first days go...it's all about the rules and the tour of the school etc.

They both had a few of their friends in their classes and they found most of their old friends at lunch.

Cassie decided to play the clarinet after all, so after school we took a trip to the Music & Arts store to get her instrument.

And of course, there are always school supplies that aren't on the list that the teacher needs them to get, so we had to make another trip to Target. When we arrived there, everything was wiped out. We had to go to Office Max to get what we needed. We also had to make a trip to Best Buy to get a T-184 graphing calculator that cost over $120....this was a very expensive school supply for Geometry.....But I guess Zack will be able to use it all through high school (at least I hope!)

So the count down begins...179 more days to go....

Registration Day!!

Wow, Summer is over...It was fun, but it was quick.
I think that Registration day is a crazy day for the parents. We had 2 new schools to go to today.
Cassie is starting Dawkins. She met her teachers, found her locker and tried to make sense of where everything is. The locker is a new experience for her. It was hard at first but she got it after a few tries. She saw some familiar faces and was happy to see some of her friends names on her class lists. She went to the band room and met Mr. Wenger. He helped her pick out an instrument. I think he was hoping that she would follow in her brothers footsteps and play the sax, but she has decided to play the flute. At least I think that's what she has chosen, she still has time to think about it for the first week or so of school.
Zack is starting Dorman this year. He is at the Freshman campus. That school is huge for just one grade. I am excited for him but sad because in just one short year he will have his driver's license and he won't need me so much. We got in the long line and made our way around the registration tables in the gym. What ever happened to registering in the classroom? It would have been much easier and faster! But we made our way around and just when we thought we were finished, we had to stand in another line to get a textbook! I'm not sure if he's going to like the block system or not. He will like it the first semester since he's only hard class will be geometry but after Christmas, he will have AP English, AP Science, & Honors SS. We tried to get it fixed but because he is in band for the full year, it was too difficult to change. Oh well, I guess he will be able to ease into it at first. With him swimming every day after school and doing church on Sundays, Mondays & Weds, he will welcome the light load....
My children are growing up fast. I will miss the elementary school days where as a parent you can visit the classroom anytime you want to. Where the teachers need you for help and you know exactly what your children are doing and who their hanging out with. Once, they hit Middle & High School you can only pray that you taught them how to behave and who to avoid.

Day 9 & 9 1/2 ....It's a LONG way home!!!

Saturday, we slept in a little, ate breakfast and checked out of our hotel by noon. It had started to rain so we decided since we did everything we wanted to do on Friday, we left the city. We drove by the Twin Towers site and it really hadn't changed much since I saw it last year. They still hadn't gotten any buildings on the site yet.

We drove for about 3 1/2 hours and stopped for gas & lunch. There was a lot of traffic along the way. Good news, the gas prices are getting cheaper the closer we get to home.

At about 9:00, we were in Petersburg, Virginia and we stopped for dinner at Cracker Barrel. Since we had 5 more hours on the road we pondered whether to stop and stay the night or just drive to get home to our own beds. So we drove and it was long and tiring but we made it home at 3:15 a.m. My head hit the pillow and I was Out......

The Brooklyn Bridge....

Day 8....New York City!

Friday, we got up at 5:15, got ready and left Cape Cod, Massachusetts bound for New York City. We made excellent time, getting there in just 4 hours. We found our hotel and parked in the parking garage across the street and tried to check in. Because it was only 10:45, our room wasn't ready yet, we decided to walk to the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry is FREE...so we took it to Staten Island.
It passed by the Statue of Liberty....It is so awesome to see her there.Even Kobe got to go on the ferry.
View of Manhattan from the Ferry.
After, we returned to the hotel and checked in. We got Kobe comfortable and left on foot to Chinatown. We had lunch there. The Chinese food was about the same as you get at home, maybe a little better. After lunch, we walked down the canal street. If you have ever been to New York then you know what they sell on Canal Street....Coach purses...real cheap....So of course, I had to get myself one and Cassie wanted one too. A couple of friends also gave me some money to get them one too.

After that we walked back to the hotel, took showers and headed by subway to Times Square. It is awesome there with all the lights and people. We went into the huge Toys R Us, then went to dinner at an Irish Restaurant.

We then walked 9 blocks to the Empire State Building. It was a looooong line to get in but we waited (you don't get to NY everyday). We finally made it to the top around midnight....but it was truly breathtaking up there. You can see entire Manhattan lit up....

We got back to our room and went to bed about 2 a.m. It was a long day but it was worth it...., This was an interesting sign on the IRS building.....ok, everyone do you have your $80,807???

We wonder why this country is so financially in a slump and then you see how much we are in debt...In my opinion, they need to stop sending money overseas and use the money here at home.....

Day 7....Relax, Regroup & Repack

Thursday we spent the day relaxing at Old Silver Beach. We also had to repack because we leave Friday morning for New York City.

We went to another favorite restaurant called Bobby Burnes in Mashpee. They have the best fish & chips and New England clam chowder.

We tried to get to bed early but that's hard to do when you are on vacation....

Below is a picture of My mother-in-law, Judy and the Grandkids....

THANKS.... Robin & Andy for letting us envade your space for the week! We kept ya up late, and made lots of messes....Thanks for a great time! Below, is Andy's baby. He refurbished this convertible camaro and he also has another camaro in the garage.
