Vegas Trip....Day 5

Below are some more random pictures of Vegas....
This is New York New York.

The Excalibur

Real "statue" person that stands there for 2 hours at a time....

Humpty Dumpty

Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving is suppose to be the worst travel day of the year and guess what? We are going home today.

We went back to Rio Tuesday night for the all you can eat Seafood Buffet that was raved to be the best. Well, I think I got food poisioning.....or a touch of the stomach virus, I'm not sure which. But I was up every hour on the hour going to the potty.

So after a night like that, we are flying home ( not a great day to fly...lol). We got ready, took the car back to the rental place and got to the airport in plenty of time to wait and then board the plane. The Vegas airport was not too busy at all. In fact, out plane was not even full.

We made it back to Atlanta airport at least 40 mins early. We thought that Atlanta may be a zoo but it wasn't bad either. With losing 3 hours on the way back we didn't get home until 11:30 pm. It felt good to sleep in my own bed....Thursday will be Thanksgiving and my birthday....

Below is the funniest game I saw out there. My friends from Maine will get a kick out of it. It's a Maine Lobster Game. It's a claw game you can play to pick up a real live Maine Lobster....If you get it they will cook it for you for free and you can buy side dishes for $5.95....too funny...only in Vegas.

Vegas Trip....Day Four

Tuesday, we spent the day walking around and checking out some more Hotel & Casinos. This was taken in front of the Luxor. It is a pyramid shaped hotel behind this entrance and at night a beam of light comes out through the center of it. This is in front of Treasure Island. They have a pirate show there nightly.

This is inside the Venetian. It was beautiful.

They had a gondola ride inside the Palazzo and outside of the Venetian.

We saw Micheal Jackson there too....Just kidding....I asked him If I could take his picture and he said sure but I work on tips....everyone needs to make a living....lol...

Check out this video that I took in front of the Bellagio Hotel. They had this show every night, every 15 minutes. It was a different song and motion too. It's really cool.

Vegas Trip....Day Three

Monday, Scott & I headed to Boulder City to go visit the Hoover Dam. We stopped at Lake Mead right before we got there and although it was an awesome view it was surprisingly to see that it was so dried up. This marina had to be moved down from it's original spot. Here I am at Lake Mead.

Hoover Dam was an awesome site.

There were building a new bridge there. If you look in the background you can see the two parts of it that aren't quite joined together yet. They do have the road finished up to and beyond this bridge.
This is the view of the visitors center.

It's a long way down on the other side.

Can you see the white lines? This is where the water line was a few years ago. It is now 100 feet lower. I didn't realize that the lakes were low on the other side of the US also. They say if it continues to be so dry they will run out of water here in 55 years......that's not too far away....
Monday night, we went to the Rio Hotel & Casino to see the Penn & Teller Show. We had seats on the second row and it was a great show. They are so funny and so good. They even showed us in slow motion how they did some of their magic tricks and it was still hard to see...

They took lots of people from the audience to help them....

After the show they were out in the lobby and we got to get their signature and a picture taken with them. Teller even talked....lol...

Penn with us. He didn't even use any profanity through out the show....imagine that.

We had a great day. We won a few more dollars on the penny slot machines and walked thru a few more casinos.

Vegas Trip....Day Two

Day 2...My husband woke me up at 7:30....is this not vacation??? I told him, I finally didn't have my 2 dogs or 2 kids waking me up at the crack of dawn, but him waking me up wanting to go out and see the sights....lol....who would have thought that?? So I got up and got ready to go.

We went to the "old strip" of Vegas, Downtown. Scott came here about 20 years ago and this was the only strip of hotels in town. You used to be able to drive down there in between all of the casinos, now you have to walk.

These are the original signs but they don't move anymore.

I thought only the south fried everything BUT I was wrong.....
The Golden Nugget is where Scott stayed 20 years ago....it hadn't changed too much.
They did have this cool aquarium in their pool. You could slide down right through the middle of it.
This was the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino. It is the tallest building west of the Mississippi. They had a restaurant at the top called The Top of The World Restaurant. We ate there for lunch. It was really cool. Not only could you see all of Vegas but the whole restaurant rotated 360 degrees. In the time we ate lunch, it had done a complete rotation.

There were 3 rides at the top of this building for those who loved thrills...or crazy people as I call them. This one was like the drop zone, the brought you straight up and drop you a few times.
This one went completely off the top....You couldn't pay me enough to rely on magnets to hold me. Some guy told us that last year it got stuck out there and the fire dept. had to come get the people down....

It was 109 stories high...
Check out this ride. This one starts you at the top and swings you out over the building. When we were eating we saw these crazy people above us.

Sunday night we went to MGM Grand to see David Copperfield's Magic Show. We had seats in the second row and it was awesome. He is amazing. We weren't allowed to take pictures and he didn't come out after the show so I didn't get any pictures....too bad.
Here he is on his poster...

This is the new Hard Rock Cafe Hotel & Casino.

After another long day of walking and looking at all the casinos we went to bed...
We don't really know too much about gambling so we didn't do any big money games. We did however play the 1 cent slot machines and at one game I put in $1 and I got back $50, so that was a good day :)

Vegas Trip....Day One

Saturday, we woke up at 4:30 am to get ready for our flight out of GSP at 6:45. We flew to Atlanta and arrived in Las Vegas at 10:00am local time. We went to find our luggage and then to the car rental place. After waiting in a long line we got our car and headed down to the strip.
The weather out there was great...not hot or cold. This was my first time in Vegas so it looked much different then I had expected. It's huge...It's like a mini New York City on the strip. But there are tons of houses as far as the eye can see. The whole valley is full.

This was our rental. It was a Dodge Caliber. It was ok. The best part is it only used $12 in gas the entire trip.
We first checked out Circus Circus. That place is huge. It is a Carowinds inside of a hotel. There are tons of rides and games for the kids to do. We ate lunch here and walked around for about an hour or so.
We left there and headed to check in to our hotel. We stayed at Bally's. It's one of the older casinos on the strip but the rooms are one of the largest. It was the size of a suite hotel here. The bathroom was all marble...very nice. The price was great too, especially on Tuesday night. (It was 2 cents on Tuesday!! Can't beat that anywhere)

The moving sidewalk at the front of Bally's from Las Vegas Blvd.

Our hotel was connected to the Paris hotel. They had the Eiffel Tower. You could go up to the top and there was also a restaurant at the base of it.
We were across from the Bellagio Casino. It was also very nice.

This piano was in Caesars Palace. It is Elton Johns.

We walked and walked the first day, we were very tired at the end of the day. It was a long day with the flight and the time change and we didn't get into bed until 12:00 (which was really 3:00 am at home).
